In August 2003, UFCC and Fremantle Ports officially opened the new Kwinana fertiliser facility. The opening was attended by the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Alannah McTiernan and representatives from both Fremantle Ports and United Farmers.

Most fertiliser suppliers unload ships onto a wharf and then move the product to a warehouse by truck. Our Kwinana facility allows the fertiliser to be moved direct from ship to facility via conveyor belt, which raises the bar on environmental standards and removes a costly link in the chain.

The facility has already made its mark demonstrating its speed and ease of collection for carriers and farmers. The state of the art facility is capable of holding up to 80,000 cubic metres which is double that of our previous facility at Naval Base. It can discharge ships four times faster, blend fertiliser five times faster and turn trucks around five times faster.

Compaction Plant
Based alongside the Kwinana Beach facility, the compaction plant produces United Farmers Co-operative's premium granular sulphate of ammonia, GranSulam.
