The Davies family who farm 10,000 acres at Varley, have been farmer agents since 1996 and shareholders of UFCC since its inception. Their crop range includes wheat, barley, oats, lupins, canola and peas along with Merino sheep. The Davies also own Rayking Agencies (Lake King) in conjunction with the Biddulphs of Ravensthorpe.

The importance of the co-operative philosophy ranks highly on Steve and Vanessa Davies' approach to modern farming. The UFCC blending facilities and the assistance with soil agronomy by Hans Schoof has increased crop yields considerably over the years. Field walks are a valuable service to other farmer shareholders in the district and are always well attended and enthusiastically supported by Robert Shirras the UFCC Esperance Manager. Shareholders say they always leave these sessions with valuable information and ideas.

Karen and Jemima board at Perth College where Karen is in year 12 and is head boarder. Jemima is in year 10 and is currently hosting a student, Philippa from Bloemfontein, South Africa, who is enjoying the tranquil difference between city life in South Africa and the farm at Varley. Alicia is at University in Perth studying for her Bachelor of Education.

Being active shareholders with UFCC the Davies family say they are looking forward to many years association and continuing to reap the benefits of the co-operative philosophy.
